Overwatch reaper guide reddit8/27/2023 ![]() Where many Lucio players go wrong is both sides of the coin: the default group just thinks living and not dying while healing and running loops around their team to peel is his job and miss opportunities for good plays the Redditors are off trying get POGs, flashy multi-man boops and DPSing over consideration for where and what their team is doing and actually provides less value for the team. So, since it offends thee, let’s stick to the general disparaging term that Reddit is used in general parlance: a selfish minded OTP on Lucio seeking flashy plays rather than doing the right thing for his team. What distinguishes “Reddit” play is a self-absorbed POG seeking mentality that emphasizes DPS over anything else with little to no regard for your team. To make plays and support your team is good, it’s good for any character. And the way to do that is to play him, even if your SR is lower. Sometimes people say this though and mean the newer off-meta style of playing him, which is Redshell’s style, which is much riskier and does tend to infuriate teams more…but if you are that 1% of Lucio players who can do it, taking the 1v1s and spawncaming is a hugely viable way to win on the hero…you just need to practice and get good at it. So saying ‘Reddit Lucio’ and meaning Lucio is flanking and making plays is just the hero. Lucio requires a lot more of it than most other heros, sure, but it’s learned through games, and you only get a feel for Lucio’s particularly flow and game-sense by playing him as intended.Īnd as a general tip on the topic ‘Reddit Lucio’ was generally a style canonized by DSPstanky in, what, 2018 latest? He hasn’t played for ages…the way Stanky played is actually pretty tame compared to how Lucio is meant to be played and indeed how Lucio is only viably played in high SR nowadays. Game sense is a learned skill in the game. If someone is playing Lucio as intended in the so-called ‘reddit-style’ and doing poorly enough on him, they’ll drop in rank till they get better, and then start to climb…just like any other hero in the game. Lucio is a high skill ceiling hero, with a high learning curve…but you’ve got to learn it somewhere. You’re both going to misplay on the heros…so where you might be fuming that your Lucio is trying to do what he is intended and make plays, but not always succeeding, odds are you also are not doing 100% what you should/could do on your hero, because you are still both gold. If you are a Soldier player in gold, and you have a Lucio player in gold, you are both going to try to play your hero as intended…but guess what you’re both in gold. That is the intended way the hero is played. Lucio is traditionally, in team comps, the most preferred caller…you need to know where every single door and window and healthpack is, so you can call plays, player locations, and based on all your info, what/where you think the enemy play is or is going. Then I challenge someone, bully them towards it, and when they sort of turn to get the HP (which are often in small rooms or chokepoints, where Lucio is strong), I finish them off.Īnother aspect involving health packs is that Lucio, above all other heros, should know where every single thing is on every map. I intentionally take a speck of damage to rush past a team and steal their Jumbo all the time. You harassed an Ashe on the high ground and got her low, but she set you on fire? You need to heal up quick (and cancel burn out) to finish her off before her team turns to heal her…(also, fyi, Lucio’s self-heal passive does not outheal dynamite’s DoT…you will burn to death if your HP is low enough, even if you’re sitting on heals…but that’s just for Lucio it will outheal the damage on a teammate).Īlso, a hugely important and underutilized aspect of Lucio is simply HP denial. Lucio’s self healing is very slow…Lucio is such a fast-paced hero, you need to get right back in the action.
